The Health Promotion Library, Scotland has selected the OLIB7 information management solution to support the development of health information
provision for Scotland.
The Health Promotion Library, Scotland supports the work of the Health Education Board for Scotland (HEBS) in Edinburgh, and the 15 regional Health
Boards across Scotland, whilst also providing a service direct to the public.
The library team currently manages the service using a variety of standalone databases. All OLIB7 functions are being implemented including
VDXrequest, which will be used to manage the loan of items from other health libraries and from The British Library.
The library's 34,000 articles and 12,000 books will be searchable in the library and via the HEBS web site, using OLIB7's WebView OPAC. This will
assist the library to provide users with the widest possible access to information. The library are also planning to extend the services offered with OLIB7, to include combined books and articles searching, the
introduction of an abstracting service and enhancements to existing current awareness services.
OLIB7 will also be used to report on journal usage to assist with stock selection and retention policies, and to analyse the enquiry
handling process.
