LIS - UK showcase for library technology   Review

Numbers are down but there were some interesting products and trends at this year’s LIS. Urica were back, Innovative’s Java clients take shape, Fretwell’s VDX turns up all over the place.

Ex Libris break through to USA                 Details

Ex Libris appear to have made the breakthrough into the N. American market that they have been seeking. Major library contracts recently signed include McGill and Iowa. New large site in Europe continue their success.

Ameritech - new deals and technical update  

Ameritech have announced some interesting new sales and also their compliance with the 3M SIP standards and a partnership with Checkpoint.

Some details of Endeavor’s breakthrough into the UK market by taking an improtant group of ex Libertas university level sites in Wales.

Another law firm selects Sirsi.

TLC product upgrades at Summer ALA

TLC have announced upgrades to their range of library products at the ALA in New Orleans.

  • Library.Solution: TLC's turnkey automation product - new features, including self check-out protocol, inventory control, Z39.50 server support and community information support protocol.
  • ITS for Windows: The cataloging utility from TLC, now including the ability for unduplicated export files, sorted tags via Z39.50 and trash can deletion of records.
  • Library.Request: Fully ISO standards-based Interlibrary Loan (ILL) capabilities with the latest in ease-of-use and flexibility of management, tracking and communications
