Irish colleges to install INNOPAC Millennium

Press release: Bristol, England / Emeryville, California, USA – March 1999

Innovative Interfaces is to install its library management system, INNOPAC Millennium, at fifteen Institutes of Technology in Ireland, representing the entire technology sector within the third level educational market in the country. The Institutes have formed an association to purchase common software systems, one of which is the library system.  Each of the libraries will run its own INNOPAC Millennium system, the first two being due for installation at the end of 1999.

This is a considerable coup for Innovative UK - the list of colleges and their current systems show how tough the competition to win this contract must have been

Stephen Patterson, M.I.S. Assistant Project Manager at the Dublin Institute of Technology, said: “INNOPAC was chosen because it is a mature and seamlessly integrated product which offers a high degree of functionality using the most cutting edge technologies.  Its web orientation and its strong record in relation to consortia make it the ideal product in an increasingly demanding and technologically aware environment.  Innovative Interfaces has taken a very proactive stance in relation to emerging trends in information services and technology and the Institutes believe that this strong development path will allow their libraries attain and maintain high levels of service to their customers.”

Ann Cleary, Librarian at Dundalk Institute of Technology, added: “INNOPAC offers benefits to all stakeholders in the libraries of the IT sector: to our customers it offers a one stop shop for information; to our funders it offers a powerful resource to support the missions of the Institutes and to Librarians it offers a tool to revolutionise our delivery of library services. We are confident that in Innovative we have found a partner to work with into the next millennium and that this partnership will afford us an opportunity to contribute in a new way to the educational, training and developmental roles of the sector.”

Mark Carden, General Manager at Innovative Interfaces in Europe, commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen by the Institutes of Technology to participate in this important project. All fifteen of the Institutes will benefit from the latest INNOPAC Millennium features, ensuring that they stay at the forefront of this educational sector.  This project is another example of Innovative's special capability to serve consortia, and of INNOPAC Millennium's unique combination of mature functionality and modern technology.”
