PRESS RELEASE Lisse, the Netherlands March 28, 2001

Swets Blackwell announced today the successful conclusion to live testing of EDI serial invoicing with Ex Libris' ALEPH500 library system. The beta-site for this new capability was Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Swets Blackwell is the first subscription agent to form such a partnership with Ex Libris, a leading library system vendor.  Michael Kaplan, Director of Product Management for Ex-Libris (USA) Inc., commented: "We are pleased that Swets Blackwell and Ex Libris have developed EDI serial invoices for the benefit of our shared customers, and we look forward to continuing to work together in a collaborative manner for their future benefit." He continued: "One of the exciting prospects about the new generation of library systems is the development of EDI capabilities.  Ex Libris is pleased to offer the EDI serial invoice processing capability to its many library customers, and we are proud to partner with Swets Blackwell in this important achievement." Swets Blackwell CEO Geert Visscher added: "The partnership with Ex Libris is one that will benefit many of our customers around the world.  Now that the development work for EDIFACT serials invoicing with ALEPH500 is complete, integration between Swets Blackwell and libraries using ALEPH500 can easily be achieved. We are pleased that Utrecht University has agreed to be the first to test this new capability."

SwetsnetNavigator to implement OpenURL framework

PRESS RELEASE Lisse, the Netherlands March 12, 2001

Swets Blackwell announced today the implementation of the OpenURL within SwetsnetNavigator, their electronic journal service. The OpenURL is an emerging standard for the transportation of metadata between an information resource and an institutional service component such as the SFX linking server from Ex Libris. This feature will become available following the successful completion of beta testing in SwetsnetNavigator.

Jenny Walker, Director of Sales & Marketing at the Ex Libris Information Services Division, commented: "Since the early days of SFX research at Gent University in Belgium, SwetsnetNavigator resources have been used as the target of SFX links. With the implementation of the OpenURL in SwetsnetNavigator, these valuable resources can now be fully integrated into the user's information landscape, allowing easier and more extensive navigation at each point on their path of research.  "

Ellen Croes, Commercial Director at Swets Blackwell, added: "Through implementation of the OpenURL, our SwetsnetNavigator customers, who also have an SFX local linking server from Ex Libris, will have control over a wide range of linking options.  In this way SwetsnetNavigator provides them not only with one single point of entry, but even broader access to relevant resources and services than ever before."
