In a surprise move UK library / information specialists Esprit and Soutron Ltd have merged. The new company will be called Esprit Soutron Partnership (ESP). Esprit were formed last year and have grown quickly via acquisition of Notisoft, a Lotus Notes software operation and Fenwood - the CD-ROM network specialists. The merger with Soutron provides the new organisation with a customer base of around 800 clients. Soutron are UK distributors for the Inmagic products DB/TextWorks and BiblioTech Pro. The new company will focus on information management and will develop additional products to complement their core competence in library management. An intranet content management system called XDirectory will be launched soon. The new company now has four distinct library management offerings in its portfolio - but sees each with its own sub-niche in the smaller academic and across the special library marketplace. |
