Library Technology Joins the Digital Campus

Talis: Birmingham, UK, 10 July, 2001

Campus Pipeline, Inc. and Talis Information Ltd today announced a marketing agreement that will bring together Campus Pipeline’s Web-integration software and services with the UK’s leading provider of integrated library systems.

Under the agreement, Talis will market the Campus Pipeline™ Web platform as its portal of choice in the education sector. The two companies will also work together in developing integration between the Talis library and information resource software and the Campus Pipeline Web platform, and making the combined solution available to universities and colleges throughout the UK and Ireland.

Talis library systems manage the activities of nearly 30% of UK and Ireland university and college libraries. As well as paper-based information, these systems increasingly manage the libraries’ growing digital resources.

“This relationship with Campus Pipeline will help our customers extend the service they provide to their students and teaching staff,” commented Stephen Gray, managing director of Talis. “There is a clear benefit to making the widest range of campus services available through a single outlet, not to mention the efficiency savings.”

The Campus Pipeline Web platform helps academic institutions become more effective, unifying diverse systems, resources and communities into a single digital campus. Because the platform integrates with an institution’s student information systems, activities such as registering for classes, accessing Web-based email, viewing grades, and keeping in touch with community and campus events become easier, allowing students, academic and administrative staff to save time and manage their busy lives more effectively.

“This collaboration with Talis demonstrates the importance of supporting higher education initiatives internationally,” said Darin Gilson, chief operating officer, Campus Pipeline. “The Campus Pipeline Web platform is designed to unite the digital campus, the online equivalent of every facet of campus life, from the administration office to the classroom, and now to the library.”
