BookWhere 3.3

TORONTO (December 1, 2000)

Sea Change Corporation announces the immediate availability of version 3.3.0 of BookWhere 2000, its professional Internet research software.  Enhancements in this release fall into the following three main areas: additional translations of the user interface have been made and the new languages are German, Spanish and Italian, the online help system has been extensively re-written and expanded and finally, substantial support for the Bath profile has been added.

This release continues to expand our support for the requirements of our growing international customer base. The user interface is now available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Danish. The entire online help system and printed User Guide is now available in both French and English. These developments, when combined with our extensive support of international record formats, are expected to substantially increase world-wide sales of BookWhere.

Version 3.3.0 has an extensive online help file available. Totaling over 20,000 words, the HTML based help system provides in-depth coverage of the product and related issues. Numerous links to Internet based information resources complement the on-line help. The breadth and depth of the help system make BookWhere 2000 the ideal product for both novice and expert users.

This release features substantial support for the Bath Profile. The Bath Profile is an ISO Internationally Registered Profile (IRP) of the Z39.50 Information Retrieval Protocol, intended as a basis for effective interoperability between library and cross-domain applications. Sea Change intends to develop implementation experience with this release and is committed to being fully compliant with the Bath profile in version 4.0.0 of BookWhere 2000, currently scheduled for spring 2001.

“Sea Change demonstrates with this release its commitment to ensure that BookWhere 2000 remains the market leader in functionality and usability. We are also committed to supporting international efforts to improve searching and believe that the Bath Profile will vastly improve user satisfaction with Z39.50 products.” says Paul Nixon, VP Business Development at Sea Change Corp.

BookWhere 2000 is a 32-bit Windows based client application that allows users to simultaneously search hundreds of large information databases on the Internet using the NISO Z39.50 / ISO 23950 protocol. Complete information on this release is available on the BookWhere Web site, www.bookwhere.com along with a downloadable trial version of BookWhere Version 3.3.0.

BookWhere 2000 is sold to the library and research markets through a reseller channel of over fifty companies in fifteen countries around the world.
