Fenwood joins Esprit Group

October 2000

Esprit’s rapid expansion continues

Press release: 27th October 2000

John Lewis go for NOTEbookS

Esprit Information Solutions has announced that Fenwood Systems Ltd, one of the most successful long-term providers of information technology solutions to the UK library and information sector has joined the Esprit Group.

Jim Burton and Tom GraingerFenwood bring significant new capabilities to Esprit, including an excellent reputation for customer service based on skilled product and technical support teams and a strong product portfolio that includes highly successful CD-ROM, Internet and local network resource management systems.

The complementary nature of the two companies will allow them to be more effective in meeting the needs of a sophisticated and rapidly evolving information marketplace, combining their product offerings in order to bring a wider range of solutions to potential customers and at the same time improving the service offered to existing customers.

Esprit will also benefit from the abilities of Fenwood directors Tom Grainger and Geoff Baldwin, who will both join the senior management team. Tom Grainger, Managing Director of Fenwood, sees huge opportunities for the Esprit Group “I am delighted that Fenwood  Systems is becoming a part of what is happening at Esprit. Fenwood have been successful in the UK library and information industry for many years and have built a highly regarded business around customer focus and a quality product set. I see this partnership with an  aggressive young company with a strong sales and marketing ethos as an ideal way to develop both companies.”

With this most recent expansion, the Esprit Group (already working with high profile customers from across the information sector) will further underline its position as a leading UK based supplier of software solutions to the library and information industries providing services to over 150 customers, offering a broad and comprehensive product  portfolio and with a projected turnover of £2m in 2001.

Jim Burton, Managing Director of Esprit sees the continuing developments within the group  as extremely positive, particularly the arrival of Fenwood, he commented, “Since its launch  Esprit has seen dramatic growth. With the addition of Fenwood's customer services capability, product offerings and rich market experience we have established a platform  for Esprit to deliver on its commitment to provide real ‘solutions’ to a marketplace in need of flexible and fast moving technology partners . You can also expect to see the group continuing to grow through further mergers and acquisitions as Esprit achieves its  goal of building a new UK based force in the information solutions marketplace.”.

Plans for the successful delivery of Esprit’s solutions focused philosophy are underpinned by a business strategy of achieving rapid growth and of being a catalyst for change in a  fast moving marketplace. The strategy has already seen the acquisition of Lotus Notes  specialists Notisoft, and the incorporation of Fenwood into the growing group represents a highly significant progression in delivery of that long-term aspiration.
