Background
The HOLLIS II system (Harvard OnLine Library Information System Integrated Library System) has been in the planning for some years.
Taos from DRA was selected in June 1998 but since then delays in the implementation of the system at UCLA had lead Harvard to re-examine the Ex-Libris system which was also evaluated in 1998. Harvard have monitored the progress at UCLA but finally decided to withdraw from negotiations. It is not clear whether the contest for the new system will be re-opened from scratch or whether Ex-Libris, whose North American credibility has grown enormously since the original selection of Taos, will be the simple replacement.
