New Review journal launched

Biblio Tech has launched a new review to cover the burgeoning areas of ECR review graphice-content and their impact on libraries and all types of knowledge workers, businesses etc.  E-Content Review will cover the news , technologies and products with the same tight integration to the directory of companies and exhibitions as in Biblio Tech Review.

New chief for TALIS

Talis Information Ltd the market leading UK library systems supplier has appointed a new Managing Director (CEO) to replace the retiring Tony Hall who has been with the company for nearly 20 years. Details   University of Sussex install new TalisList reading list system. 

Endeavor sales

Stanford Lane and Jackson libraries have chosen Voyager as have the COSTAATT consortium in Trinidad and Tobago.  ScienceDirect link goes live.  Details

Sirsi UK sales - Hyperion and Unicorn

Sirsi UK are showing that by concentrating clearly on a niche - image management - and developing a well engineered product, you can do well - Leeds Metropolitan University chooses hyperion for managing its to learning materials, image databases and archive materials.  Details

FDI win Colorado resource sharing system

Fretwell-Downing’s VDX system continues to do well in the large USA interlending consortiums.  Colorado is the latest to sign. Plus a large European legal firm goes for the OLIB library management system.  Details

Innovative win London Guildhall University

Innovative Interfaces (Europe) Ltd are to install their Millennium system as a replacement for the existing Libertas system and Shirley Adams - previously Geac’s product manager - joins to head up their public library push in the UK.  Details

Urica pull out of UK

Following the decision by Robert Gordon’s University (Scotland) to halt the implementation of their Urica system, UCS Library Systems (Pty) Ltd. have decided to halt international marketing. They are working on new products for the library and wider markets.

People

.There have been a few changes over the last few months amongst some senior people in the industry.  Kate Noerr has left Epixtech and returned to the entrepreneurial fray with husband Peter.  More about their products next month after the Online 2000 show in London. Meanhile, Will Downie has joined Epixtech in the UK from Talis.

Mick Fortune - ex head of Epixtech has moved on from Urica now that they have shelved their return to the UK market place. 

Meantime Ken Chadd who left Endeavor UK in June has now joined EOSi UK to spearhead the European part of the organisation's sales operation.

Shirley Adams has left Geac to join Innovative's move into the UK public library market.
