Bristol, England / Emeryville, California, USA – November 2000
London Guildhall University has signed a contract with Innovative Interfaces to install the Millennium library automation system. Millennium
will replace the library's current LIBERTAS system that was supplied and supported by Innovative's European division, formerly known as SLS Information Systems.
The London Guildhall University libraries will benefit from the latest Millennium Webbased features, including Web OPAC, Circulation, Serials
Control, Acquisitions, Materials Booking and Inter-Library Loan. The system will be licensed for 50 staff users and unlimited Web-OPAC users, and will run on a Compaq Alpha, with an Oracle database.
Jean Marie Willers, Head of Information Systems at London Guildhall University, said: “Innovative’s high quality Web-OPAC and good functionality
were important factors in our decision; users found the search facilities sophisticated and easy to use.
Millennium allows us to offer more self-service and personalised facilities to our users, and will help us to deliver the University’s Information Strategy.”
“Innovative have a proven development path that exhibits a good understanding of academic priorities. All told, Millennium was the unanimous
choice of the Academic Services Steering Group and academic staff viewing the system.”
Bob Radford, Business Manager at Innovative Interfaces, said: “As always, Innovative is pleased to have the opportunity to continue its relationship
with a longstanding customer.
Another benefit London Guildhall University will receive once their Millennium system is installed next summer, will be the 24 hour/7 days per week support provided to all customers from Innovative’s Californian headquarters, with the added security of local support from Innovative’s UK office.”
The origins of London Guildhall University date back more than 150 years to 1848. Today, it has 7,000 full-time undergraduate students, 1,200
from other countries, and has one of the largest business schools in Europe. The University has three libraries, each with its own specialism and sharing just under 300,000 items. Also located at the
University and sharing its library automation resources, is The Women's Library, which holds the largest collection of materials relating to the changing role of women in society available in the UK.
